"I have to say, all weekend he didn't do anything wrong," Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko told Autosport. "He had big pressure in the race to keep Rosberg behind him - I'm really pleased, because he is the youngest driver and is another to come out of our Young Driver Development programme." It was Marko, who drove in nine Grands Prix in the early seventies, who convinced the Austrian drinks manufacturer to run the 20-year-old in the STR4 for this season. "I had to fight very hard to put him in the car," he continued. "All the experts know that I made the right choice."
Buemi - the only rookie in the field this year - stressed before racing in Australia that, because expectations were low, he would not allow himself to feel any pressure; team-mate Sébastien Bourdais rounded off a positive race for the team by finishing eighth.
