Brawn collect data for higher temperatures
03 April 2009 / Results / PhotosThe Brawn GP team has a new challenge ahead of them this weekend, as the BGP 001 takes to a track with higher temperatures than anything witnessed during their limited winter testing runs in Spain. The English privateer team completed an encouraging day on Friday afternoon as the two cars finished sixth and seventh, with Barrichello ahead of Button by less than a tenth of a second.

"We achieved a good day's work today on a challenging track, where it is always difficult to find the right balance with the car and tyres," explained Barrichello. "Our evaluations with the prime (hard) and the option (soft) tyres were particularly useful and, although we still have some work to do on the balance, it was a positive day overall."
Any tyre predcitions could be thrown out of the window come Sunday, however, as an officially declared 'wet race' means that the rule stating that the two dry compounds must be used becomes inactive. "My biggest problem was that we are locking the tyres and brakes very easily," Button said, "so we need to have a good look at this. We're not quite there yet, but we are going in the right direction and I'm confident that we will achieve the optimum setup ready for qualifying tomorrow."
