Japanese manufacturer Honda is very frustrated at having to withdraw from Formula 1, according to new team owner Ross Brawn. The company decided to sell its F1 team at the end of last season, due to economic reasons, although the squad - now Brawn GP - has gone on to claim both pole positions and race wins of 2009 so far.

"I'm sure they were very frustrated at having to withdraw," Brawn said. "I've had many notes from senior people at Honda whoy are frustrated because obviously the team has moved forward, although the withdrawal was a necessity for their business."
Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, on the other hand, believes that Honda, the world's sixth largest car manufacturer, would have never left the sport if realising just how competitive the 2009 challenger would be. "They'd spent an awful lot of money, hadn't gotten anywhere and probably didn't realise the potential," Ecclestone said. "I'm sure that, if they had, they wouldn't have gone because all this sucess would've been Honda otherwise."
