Toyota's Jarno Trulli is looking towards the Chinese Grand Prix with confidence, having achieved a third and fourth position in the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix. The Italian is currently 'best of the rest' behind the Brawn GP pairing, but knows more work must be done to catch the white and green cars.
"I think that the car has been developed pretty well over the winter time, so the first race went pretty well and we scored lots of points," Trulli said in China on Thursday. "There is still a lot of work to do; our car is competitive but we still have to catch up with Brawn GP as, at the moment, they are more competitive than us - there is work to do, and we are focussed on that job.
With four 'flyaway' races at the start of 2009 (as opposed to the usual three), a strong car from the get go is more important than ever as no major upgrades will feature until the start of the European season in May. This has not stopped Toyota making the most of the fortnight's break between rounds two and three, however, as the Japanese team has brought a number of new parts to Shanghai. "We have got some upgrades here - front wing and rear end of the car," Trulli reported. "We are consistently working on it, and the team has done a good job so far. Obviously - after so much noise about the rear diffuser - we are a little bit undecided about what is going on; on the other hand we were quite confident that we would win the race (in the FIA International Court of Appeal on Tuesday), and in the end I am pleased with it."

| Trulli, remembering those who died in Italy's earthquake of two weeks ago |
As well as concentrating on the job in hand, Trulli will also be taking a moment on Sunday to remember those less fortunate than himself. "I am wearing a message for my new charity campaign, Abruzzo in the Heart," he explained. "You all probably have heard about the dramatic situation in the region of Italy after the earthquake; I want to support the people and, to do that, I gave up one of my sponsors to show visibility (of the logo) and raise money. I am going to ask GPDA drivers, teams, everyone, to join me - this is not just asking about the money. I am raising money, but I want to ask people to donate, not just money, but items."
