The Ferrari team refuses to give in on this season, after their worst start for 28 years has seen the Italian team score no points from the first three races. Kimi Räikkönen led the charge to tenth place in Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix, as team-mate Felipe Massa retired with technical problems, throwing away a podium chance.
"It's not an easy sport to catch up in and sometimes, when you don't have what you want, it just seems to be very difficult and everything seems to be against you," said 2007 Champion Räikkönen. "It's hard to get out of it but, like I said, it takes a while and we need to get through that period and I'm sure that we are gong to be in a position to challenge. I don't know when, but hopefully sooner rather than later."
The Scuderia has been Constructor's Champion since 1999, with the only exceptions being 2005 and 2006. Team principal, Stefano Domenicali, stressed that the pace problems do not just stem from the lack of a double diffuser. "The situation is much more complicated than that," he admitted. "That device gives you a benefit, but it would be wrong to believe that it is the only key to our lack of form. We have seen, for example, the Red Bull car has done a really great job (running with neither a double diffuser nor KERS).
"I think we have to wait," he continued. "We need to stay cool; it is not easy, I know, but we need to stay cool because there are too many things that can change very quickly. Priority number one is to move from zero points."
