Italy's Vitantonio Liuzzi remains optimistic over the chances of a return to Formula One next year, after what would be a two year absence. Liuzzi, the current Force India test driver, is well aware of the fact that regular drivers Sutil and Fisichella have contracts set to expire at the end of this season, and is looking for an open door.
"I'm very confident about it," Liuzzi admitted to Autosprint. "There are good chances for me to get back to racing in F1 with Force India. I have a contract until 2011, while Fisichella and Sutil's contracts expire at the end of the year."
Tonio's first F1 appearance came during four races Red Bull Racing in 2005, before moving to the sister Toro Rosso team the next season. The move to Force India as tester came in 2008, after the team was bought from Spyker.
The Italian has recently represented his country in A1 Grand Prix, and impressed immediately with pole position in his first qualifying session. "A1GP is fine for my aims because it's very competitive," he continued. "It requires good physical preparation and it also includes pit stops; these are valid elements to keep me ready for a return to F1 in 2010."
