Schumacher to miss start of German superbike season

Michael Schumacher has called off a scheduled start in the German superbike series this weekend, as the seven-time Formula One World Champion has said he is still feeling the effects of a crash in Spain two months ago.

"Unfortunately I have to skip the race at the Lausitzring because I'm not ready yet," Schumacher told German news agency DPA. "At the moment I can just about manage to ride a bicycle, but when I have to move my neck quickly I'm still restricted."

Schumacher retired from Formula One at the end of the 2006 season having scored 91 race wins, 69 pole positions and 76 fastest laps at the highest level of motorsport.
