Nico Rosberg was happy to be back at the top of the timesheets in Bahrain, as the Williams driver is the only man to have topped a practice session at all circuits visited so far this year. Although the Williams car has tended to drop off in performance during races, the German is confident that improvements have been made.
"You can only ever compare your performance to other race weekends so, relatively, I think we are looking okay," Rosberg said after practice. "We've done a lot of setup work today and I'm quite happy with everything, so we've made good progress."
All teams will be installing updates at the start of the European season in a fortnight, although minor additions are constantly making appearances. "The team has brought some new parts to Bahrain, and they seem to be working well so thanks to our aero guys for their continued hard work in developing the car," Nico continued. "I am really convinced that we will be able to do something positive at this race, and to get the points that the car is worth."
Williams currently lies eighth in the constructors' championship, with Rosberg out of the drivers' top ten by just half a point.
