The FIA has revealed the weights of all twenty cars ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The starting weights give an indication as to the amount of fuel in the cars when they leave the pit lane to being their installation laps on Sunday, and therefore drivers often travel around to the grid slowly in order to save as much fuel as possible, and not unsettle their strategy.
Those who were knocked out of qualifying from Q1 and Q2 declared the weights of their cars to the FIA on Saturday afternoon and will refill on Sunday morning, whereas the top ten qualifiers' cars will remain in parc fermé overnight and fuel loads from the end of qualifying may not be modified until the Grand Prix begins on Sunday.
Notably, Jarno Trulli's Toyota is only half a kilogramme lighter than Rubens Barrichello which starts sixth, proving that the Brawn GP car no longer has its previous advantage. Also, Timo Glock's car is significantly lighter than that of his team-mate despite being three tenths of a second slower, but Vettel is the heaviest of the top three.
