The final free practice session in Bahrain got under way at 11:00am (local time) this morning. The conditions are already extreme with temperatures reaching some 36°C (97°F) in another generally incident-free session.
There were problems for Sébastien Bourdais, though, as the Frenchman completed just seven laps and was forced to watch his team work on the car for most of the session. Although Glock ended up at the top of the timesheets, the German experienced a bittersweet start to the day; with just five minutes to go in the session an engine problem occured in the searing heat - with eight engines on offer for all drivers this year, there will be no ten-place grid penalty as in recent times.
The Ferrari and McLaren the teams made a return to the top ten with only Heikki Kovalainen outside of it in 12th. The Brawn GP appear to be focussing on race setups as both Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello did not use the favoured Super Soft tyre compound, finishing in positions 15 and 16..
