Hamilton stands by his team

25 April 2009

Lewis Hamilton has said he will stand by his team and will not leave them during their difficult times as the team prepares for next week's 'Liargate' hearing in front of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in Paris. "I don't abandon my team when times get tough," Hamilton said.

"I'm here and I'm enjoying myself," the World Champion continued. "We ride the bad and good times together and I am happy where I am. It's time for a World Champion to stand up and be counted for, by being a strong driver and working for his team," he told The Mirror.

Hamilton believes the F1 title is still possible this season, even though he is 17 points down on championship leader Jenson Button after the first three races. "I think it's still on but, for sure, the other guys are quite a bit ahead," he admitted. "Anything can happen in the next 14 races. I remain optimistic,"
