Lewis Hamilton is looking to achieve a podium finish from Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix after qualifying his McLaren fifth on the grid. The World Champion's title defence has begun in a difficult way, although - after qualifying two places better than expected - confidence levels are rising once again at McLaren.
"I think this a result of all the team's work," Hamilton said, who thanked the workforce as he did in China last weekend, where he had urged them to not give up. "We have been pushing very hard over the last couple of months, especially when we arrived in Melbourne and realised we needed to keep cracking on," he told the BBC.
Hamilton feels his MP4-24 is improving constantly, despite no large updates being brought to Bahrain. "It will be interesting just to see what the other guys are doing, but I think we should be able to fight for a couple of positions in front," he concluded.
