A disappointed Timo Glock finished Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix in seventh position; the German had hoped for a much better result after his Toyota team started from the front row of the grid, with the German leading for thie first stint. Glock blamed the lack of pace on poor tyre performances.
"I had a very promising start," Glock said, who was in the lead after overtaking team-mate Jarno Trulli at the start. "I was slightly surprised and managed to create a gap on Jarno. We were the first to stop for new tyres and fuel; that was a a critical period for us, but after that I started to lose a lot of time - sometimes even a second per lap. I just couldn't get any temperature in the tyres and during my second stint I had already realised that I could forget about a podium finish."
Timo continued his 2008 Australian Grand Prix battle with Kimi Räikkönen in the closing stages but was unable to pass the Finn and crossed the line in seventh to score two points. Although he was downcast with today's result, the German is still the only driver apart from the Brawn pairing ot finish all races in the points so far this season.
