Villeneuve to open driving school

01 May 2009

Jacques Villeneuve is to open a driving school in his hometown of Montreal, the former Champion has said. Villeneuve last drove in Formula One for BMW in 2006 before being replaced by Robert Kubica after the German Grand Prix. Now, though, Jacques is ready to pass on his skills to up and coming stars.

"Setting up my own high-performance driving school is a great opportunity to give back to racing," the 1997 World Champion said, whose new school will be running on the ICAR racing academy's facility. "I chose ICAR because of its ultramodern infrastructures and because of their vision and their values perfectly aligned with my own," he explained, having driven in the NASCAR and Speedcar series last year.

"Along with ICAR, my goal is to transmit my passion for racing and to increase the quality of experience for all the racing fans from around the world, whether they are beginners or experienced professionals.

"The Jacques Villeneuve Academy will offer a wide range of programmes and packages for all budgets. From novice race driving programmes to advanced high-performance driving courses as well as advanced defensive driving 'Roadsafe' programmes."
