Rubens Barrichello was gracious in defeat for his quest to pole position in Spain, after the Brazilian qualified third in Barcelona. Although the Paulista set the fastest lap of the weekend in the second low fuel phase of qualifying, he was openly positive over the performance of his championship-leading team-mate.
"Once again I was very, very happy with the car in Q2 and, to be honest, it came to me as a surprise." Rubens said afterwards. "I think it's a great effort from Jenson and he's doing a really good job; he deserves to be there but it came as a surprise in Q3. I had a good lap, to be honest, I may have been a bit too early on the track and that's the only missed opportunity because the rest was done quite well - the lap was good and it was within the limits, so I am very happy."
China 2004 was the last win for Barrichello although he remains confident heading into this weekend's race. "I think I have a very good car for the race and I'm still fighting," he added, smiling. "I think that Jenson is really doing well this minute and I just have to try harder and harder to try to get him!"
