Barrichello disappointed to miss out on win
10 May 2009 / Results / PhotosRubens Barrichello was disappointed not to have taken victory in the Spanish Grand Prix, as a change of strategy for Jenson Button saw the Englishman get the jump on his team-mate and claim the win. Despite finishing a happy second for the team, Brazilian Barrichello's feelings were of natural disappointment after the race.

"The race evolved quite well," he explained. "I had a great start, I went into the lead; I was running a tiny bit quicker than Jenson to begin with and I had two more laps of fuel. It was running quite well and then I heard that they'd changed Jenson's strategy and I had to keep on pushing."
With knowledge of the adjustment to his team-mate's race plan, Barrichello pushed harder in an attempt to build up a buffer. "My third set of tyres was not good, I don't know if something was broken on the car or anything," he continued. "I couldn't keep my pace up as well as the previous set so I guess it must be something to do with the car. From then on it was a struggle; it was just a big, big struggle to keep the car on the track and I'm relieved to come second.
"A big thanks to the whole group because it's still first and second back in Europe. I'm disappointed because I haven't won the race, because I thought I had it in the bag today but it's still a good effort from the whole team."
