The Force India team had another day of mixed results in Spain as Giancarlo Fisichella came home in fourteenth position in Barcelona. He may have been last of the runners to cross the line although team-mate Adrian Sutil failed to so after being taken out of the race in the second corner collision.
Team owner Vijay Mallya had wanted to score points by Barcelona, although the team remains the only one yet to do so in 2009. "The first corner was quite messy as Trulli spun in front of me and there was a lot of debris around the circuit," Fisichella said at the end of the race.

"I was a little worried about having picked up some damage but in the end I was out of trouble and didn't pick up anything. We decided to change the tyres under the safety car, though, and change the strategy, which was a good choice in the end." The Italian was disappointed, however, that a refuelling problem at his final pit stop deprived him of the chance to finish ahead of Kazuki Nakajima, with a subsequent fourth visit to the pits losing Giancarlo crucial time.
"I had a good start, but as I accelerated into Turn 3 I saw a car flying into me," Sutil recalled. "Jarno had spun on the inside of the corner and he was just in front of me and I couldn't do anything. It went so quickly, my car was damaged and I had to stop straight away. I wasn't injured, just disappointed I couldn't get to the end. I will have a good look at the accident after the race, but it was just one of those incidents that can happen at the start."
