The Toro Rosso team was extremely frustrated to lose both cars from the Spanish Grand Prix only a matter of seconds after the red lights went out. With Jarno Trulli being collected by Adrian Sutil after Turn 2, both Toro Rossos were caught up in the following pile-up to bring an end to a short and highly disappointing afternoon.
The shunt between the two Italian cars saw the completion of the incident, with an unsighted Bourdais running over the back of Buemi on the entrance to the third corner. "I became aware everything was slowing down in front and I didn't even have the time to brake before I was flying over the back of my team-mate's car," recalled Sébastien Bourdais. "I thought I was going to roll over - I'm not sure how it happened although I saw that Trulli had spun and came back on the track. It's very frustrating."

| It was a shortened and disappointing afternoon for Buemi |
Buemi, like his team-mate, was an innocent victim in the aftermath of the primary accident. "I'm not really sure what happened," said the youngest driver on the grid. "I do know that I didn't get a very good start, so that Räikkönen and Kovalainen overtook me before the first corner. Then, at the exit of the second corner, Trulli spun and I had to brake to avoid him. My team-mate did not see I was slowing down and could not avoid me. His car went over mine, I saw his tyre go over my head and that was it."
