The Red Bull Racing team had a day of mixed fortunes in Monte-Carlo on Thursday as Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber eventually claimed sixth and twelfth positions in second practice for the Monaco Grand Prix, although both the morning and afternoon were filled with technical dramas for the squad.
An engine failure for Vettel in the morning was followed by more problems for Webber later, on the start of a weekend which has promised much for the Milton Keynes-based squad. "You need to get into a good rhythm round here," explained Vettel, who is currently third in the World Championship. "Nonetheless the boys fixed the car, which I think was quite tricky as some of the parts arrived last minute, so it wasn't easy.

"We still managed to complete quite a few laps and get a lot of data, including a view on the different tyre compounds, so I think we're in decent shape but of course we always want to be on top!"
Webber's day appeared to have taken a u-turn when issues left his car stuck in the pits for over half an hour of the afternoon session. "It was a bit of a mixed bag today," he explained. "We didn't have a great run, reliability-wise, which was a first this season; there was a vibration in the rear of the car during this morning's session so we stopped early, but the boys did an amazing job to get the car back out for the afternoon. I think it was a good recovery for us to do as many laps as we did. It looks very tight and competitive here, so it should be an exciting race."
