Horse prances again for Ferrari

Ferrari was more accustomed to its positions at the end of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. After a poor start to the season - with just six points from five races - the pair of red cars qualified in the top five for the Monaco Grand Prix. Kimi Räikkönen's front row grid slot alongside Jenson Button was the highlight of the team's day, with race victory a possibility in the principality.

After a disappointing retirement from the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago, Kimi Räikkönen missed pole position by just over two hundredths of a second whereas team-mate Felipe Massa wound up fifth fastest. "Today's showing confirms we are capable of fighting for the top places," the Brazilian said confidently after qualifying. "We were in with a chance of getting into the top three but I never managed to get a clean lap, partly because of traffic and partly through some small slip-ups. These things can easily happen in Monaco and fifth is still a good place to start the race."

The 2008 runner-up was fortunate, however, to continue the session after an incident on his first-out lap of the qualifying hour, losing control of the F60 at the second part of the Swimming Pool Complex. "It was a very complicated qualifying session," explained team manager Chris Dyer, "starting with Felipe's accident, which meant he had to come straight back to the pits to change the nose.

"The team and drivers worked really well in managing the situation and the credit for this result goes to them and everyone back at the factory who worked on preparing for this Grand Prix. We are in a good position for tomorrow's race, in which we will do our best to bring both cars home on the podium."
