Jenson Button finished outside the top ten and in twelfth position in second free practice ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix. The Frome-born championship leader, currently with a sixteen-point advantage over team-mate Rubens Barrichello, could become the first ever driver to win six of a season's first seven races in Turkey.
As eleventh place in the morning session translated to twelfth in the afternoon, it was an unfamiliar sight for the Turkish crowd to see a championship leader lingering in the midfield on Friday. "We've had a tough first day of practice trying to find a good balance with the car," Jenson admitted.

"We tried many different setup options over the course of the two sessions but unfortunately could not get the car to where I want it to be and struggled with a lack of grip. However we now have a great deal of information to review after trying a few evaluations and believe that we have some understanding of what is causing the problems."
Team-mate Rubens Barrichello wound up eighth, almost a second quicker than Button, but still half a second down on Heikki Kovalainen's leading pace. "We need to have a good look at everything tonight and I'm hopeful that we can resolve today's issues and have a better day tomorrow," Englishman Button concluded.
