Piquet frustrated by problems

Nelson Piquet was frustrated to have lost a chance to qualify for the second phase of qualifying as his Renault left the track for the Turn 3 gravel trap. Victim of a suspected brake failure, the R29 went straight on at the corner before spinning out of qualifying.

Piquet Junior had reached as high as fourth place on his way to an eventual result of 11th in final practice, but a mechanical problem later on in the afternoon did not impress the Brazilian. "I had a brake problem," the 23-year-old told Catalonia's TV3. "We had a little bit of problem in practice, the problem came back and got worse and worse."

As a result of the incident, the 2006 GP2 runner-up will start 17th on Sunday's grid, one place behind rival of three years ago Lewis Hamilton. "We're going to have to think about it this afternoon," Nelsinho continued of the issues. "Obviously it's going to be a tough race tomorrow - I've been very unlucky these last races and again I've had a problem with the car so it's quite frustrating."
