Trulli aiming for the podium

Jarno Trulli let his driving do the talking with a strong fifth position on the grid in Turkey. Having qualified on the back row of the grid with team-mate Timo Glock in Monaco, Toyota's Italian driver drove a strong session to finish 'best of the rest' behind the pack-leading Red Bull and Brawn cars.

Fifth on the grid and less than a tenth of a second from third position, Jarno could be forced to take a defense role at the start of the race - with two KERS-shod Ferraris right behind him on the grid - although he isn't letting this dampen his enthusiasm. "I am happy with this good result, especially after the difficult time we had during the last race weekend," he said after qualifying. "We have made big improvements and it is nice to be back at the front, where we belong."

Like most, Trulli struggled in selecting and making best use of his tyres but is optimistic heading towards the Grand Prix. "We were not far off pole position, which is very encouraging and gives us high expectations for the race tomorrow," he continued. "Obviously, it is a long race and it's difficult to predict what will happen, but I will be fighting to finish on the podium."

Team-mate Glock did not have such a pleasurable afternoon, however, and starts (a perhaps unlucky) 13th. "That was not an easy session for me and it is disappointing to be out of the top 10," the German admitted. "This morning we were quick and the setup felt really good, so I was happy with the car going into qualifying, but when we put the option tyres on with a light fuel load the car had some oversteer and it didn't feel exactly like it did in the morning.

"We were still competitive and expecting to get into the top 10 but on my final lap of Q2 I made a mistake in the last sector and that was it - I lost time and didn't qualify where I expected, but it's easier to overtake here than in Monaco so I won't give up on the race."
