Sebastian Vettel was pleased to see both Red Bull Racing cars finish on the podium in the Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. As Jenson Button claimed his sixth race victory of the season, pole winner Vettel was happy with third place but admitted that switching to a two-stop strategy would have been a better decision.
With 3-stopping Vettel eventually losing out from pole to both Button and Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber, the German crossed the finish line three quarters of a second behind his team-mate to pick up podium result number three of the season.
"The start worked out okay," Sebastian reported. "I was ahead but then I nearly lost the car in Turns 9 and 10 on the first lap - it was my mistake, it was extremely difficult there and I nearly did the same on the second lap; it was quite tricky but I think without that there wouldn't have a big difference, as Jenson was too quick today."
Despite the pace of the race-winning Brawn, the 21-year-old did question the decision to not change to a 2-stop pit strategy. "After that I thought the strategy might swap to a two-stop plan, but it didn't," he continued. "I got caught behind Jenson, who was heavier in the second stint, and that allowed Mark to get ahead. Nonetheless, a good result for the team and I think we can be satisfied with second and third."
