Robert Kubica's seventh place in Turkey ensured his first two points of the 2009 season after narrowly missing out on a podium finish in the Australian season-opener. With BMW improving the F1.09's aerodynamics with a new double-diffuser in Istanbul, the Pole is now hoping for more points finishes.
His Melbourne crash with Sebastian Vettel was the end to what the team believed was a possible race victory for Kubica, although his points on Sunday is the Hilwil-based squad's first since Round 2 in Malaysia. "It is good to finally score points," Rosbert said after the race. "I think I raced well today - my pace was good and I made no mistakes."
There was certainly no time to rest, however, with the Toyota of Timo Glock just half a second behind at the chequered flag. "The race was very hard, as nearly all the time I had someone very close behind me and the smallest mistake would have cost a position," Kubica continued. "It was very hard to keep up the pace - however, finishing seventh was a clear step forward and we now have to keep up the speed of development."
