Kimi Räikkönen was left to ponder what might have been in Istanbul after finishing ninth in the Turkish Grand Prix. Having qualified sixth and with KERS onboard, the Finn was hoping to make up positions at the start but was disappointed to have done the opposite.
After losing several places at Turn 1, Räikkönen was in the wars at the end of the first lap when tagging the back of Fernando Alonso's Renault damaged the front wing of the Ferrari. Despite carrying KERS and setting a number of fastest final sector times during the race, the 2007 World Champion was unhappy to have come out of the race one position away from the points.
"I got a very bad start and ended up fighting with the guys in the first few corners," Kimi explained to the BBC. "I hit Fernando's rear wheel when I tried to pass him on the end of the straight, so I broke the front wing a bit - after that it was a bit difficult.
"The car was okay after we changed the front wing and the tyres. With a better start I think we could easily have got one or two points, but that's how it goes."
