Adrian Sutil was pleased with the speed of his Mercedes-powered Force India car in the Turkish Grand Prix, finishing in seventeenth place after qualifying in Q2 on Saturday. The German, whose team is yet to score points since buying out Spyker for 2008, received a confidence boost in Istanbul.
Although team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella a failed to make the finish, retiring on Lap 5, Adrian is confident that performances are on the up for the Silverstone-based outfit. "Perhaps we had hoped for more from 15th on the grid," he admitted. "I lost a couple of places at the start but was able to get them back quickly.
"The race pace was quite good though and I was able have some exciting battles on track with a McLaren and a Brawn, which was great; it was an interesting race - the car balance and the race pace were pretty good. Although the result was not as we would have liked, it's been quite a positive weekend overall."
Fortunately for the 26-year-old, a left-rear puncture was avoided after a touch from the recovering Rubens Barrichello at the track's final curve, Turn 14. "It was not a real problem with Barrichello," Adrian continued. "He touched me once through a corner but I was just defending position."
