Alonso excited about Rotterdam

Fernando Alonso is looking forward to joining the annual Bavaria City Racing event and driving his Renault Formula One car around the streets of the Netherlands' Rotterdam on 16 August. Not present at the team's last demonstration in Dubai, Alonso will be out in force in front of the Dutch crowds this summer.

Sunday 16 August will see a gathering of more than 500,000 in Holland's second city as the Spaniard's Renault takes to the Willemsbrug bridge, Coolsingel street and Hofplein. "My team-mate Nelsinho Piquet, who has driven twice in Rotterdam, has told me some great stories about the event and the enthusiastic crowd," said former double World Champion Alonso. "I hope to entertain all the fans along the track with an impressive demonstration."

"Fernando is one of just three World Champions driving in Formula One," added Herman Vaanholt, one of the event's organisers. "It is fantastic and unique that such race hero is part of the programme in our (fifth) anniversary year."
