Glock hungry for more points

15 June 2009

Timo Glock is hoping to extend his string of points finishes for 2009 at the British Grand Prix on Sunday. The German, who returned to the top eight last time out in Istanbul, currently lies sixth in the drivers' championship after a set of mixed results this season.

Behind team-mate Jarno Trulli by six and a half points in the standings, Glock confirms the lockout of Brawn, Red Bull and Toyota at the top of the table but would be happy to spoil the symmetry. "I am looking forward to the British Grand Prix and I think we have a great chance at Silverstone," said Timo.

"It's an enjoyable place to race because the fans are so enthusiastic about Formula One and it's a really exciting layout, so it is a pity the Grand Prix is leaving Silverstone but, then again, new venues can be exciting too; the main feature of Silverstone is speed because there are some fantastic fast corners which are really good fun for a driver."

After fighting his way through to tenth from a pit-lane start in Monaco and another point for his tally in Turkey, will the Toyota TF109's recent upgrades suit the English track? "We were really competitive in Turkey with some new parts on the car and we expect to build on that this weekend," the 27-year-old explained. "It was unfortunate my qualifying didn't go to plan in Istanbul because I could have been up with Jarno in the top six but I am really motivated to make sure everything goes to plan this weekend. The front of the grid is pretty close at the moment, so if we get the maximum from our package then we can be battling with the fastest cars."
