Ferrari has refused to release a full statement in response to the FIA's decision to launch legal proceedings against the team. The governing body, which made the announcement following FOTA's decision to leave F1 at the end of the year, has said that is it to make no delay in taking action towards the team for supposedly breaking a contract between the two organisations.
With the FIA claiming that Ferrari has already signed a deal to compete in F1 until the end of the 2012 season, the latter has responded by arguing that, having already looked into such a case occurring, its rights are projected.
Ferrari's short response reads:
'Ferrari does not intend to comment on the press release put out this afternoon by the FIA. However, Ferrari wishes to make it clear that, on the 15th June, it investigated arbitration against the FIA to protect its contractual rights in its dealings with the Federation, including those relative to the respecting of procedures regarding the adoption of regulations and the right to veto.'
