Tough time for Buemi

Tough time for Buemi

Sébastien Buemi had another difficult start to a Grand Prix weekend after achieving no more than the final two positions in practice sessions one and two at Silverstone. The Swiss driver is hoping for a stronger day on Saturday after French team-mate Sébastien Bourdais finished in as high as fifteenth place.

Like championship leader Jenson Button, Formula One newcomer Buemi has now suffered from two difficult Fridays in succession, as the Toro Rosso pilot searched for extra time. "I didn't have such a good day and that was because I did not really find my way with the car setup on this circuit and the whole thing didn't really come together for me," admitted the 20-year-old. "I tried a different approach to my team-mate but I think we will end up going in the direction that he took, as it seemed to work better, and that should help me make the best of tomorrow."

Buemi believes that, having seen his team-mate's best lap times - two and seven tenths quicker in the respective sessions - his own can be bettered before qualifying. "We ran the two cars with very different settings: I was fairly happy with mine and when I tried Buemi's I didn't like it all, so we went back to our first choice and it was better again, so that gives us a clear indication of which direction we should go in," explained Frenchman Bourdais, fresh from pole position and a second place race result in the Le Mans 24-hour last weekend.

"As for the usual Friday tyre comparison, we've got an accurate picture from today's data; we still lack pace, but it looks better than Turkey and we just have to continue getting the most out of our current package until our major update comes along."
