Vettel behind Red Bull's decision

19 June 2009

Sebastian Vettel has confirmed that he is in agreement with Red Bull Racing's decision to follow the rest of FOTA and form a breakaway series outside of Formula One. The German, currently the team's leading driver and third in the World Championship behind the Brawn pairing, has confirmed that he is and will remain fully in support of his team's actions.

With FOTA (Formula One Teams Association) having announced its departure from F1 at the end of the season, Vettel has said that - as a driver of Red Bull - he understands the teams' position amid the argument with governing body the FIA.

"All the Formula One drivers just want the same thing and that is to compete against the best drivers with the best cars and best teams," he told German broadcaster Premiere. "Mark (Webber, team-mate) and I are fully backing up the team and we'll have to wait and see what will happen now, but it is now much more important to focus on this weekend's race - the 2010 season is still far away from us."
