Massa lacking raw pace
20 June 2009 / Results / PhotosFelipe Massa believes that no more than a pure lack of pace was his and Ferrari's downfall in qualifying at Silverstone. As team-mate Kimi Räikkönen led the way for the Italian team in ninth position, Brazilian Massa will start Sunday's Grand Prix from eleventh place, with Fernando Alonso's Renault between them.

| Massa is unsure as to how Ferrari can make up the difference |
During what has already been a highly distracting weekend for Ferrari, with governing body the FIA stating legal action will be taking against the reigning constructors' World Champsions, Massa explained his eventual run to a midfield grid spot. "The balance is not too bad but the car was maybe a bit slower than the others, so that's the only problem to be honest," he said.
"Maybe the others have found better developments in the last weeks and maybe they've made a bigger step than us - for sure, it's difficult to explain; I don't think there's a massive change we can make to the car to gain a big performance boost." A slightly downcast Massa also added that having the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) onboard, which offers an 80 horsepower boost for 6.6 seconds a lap, is not a major advantage on the Silverstone circuit.
