Rubens Barrichello was happy with his performance at Silverstone on Sunday, finishing on the podium for the second consecutive year after beating team-mate Jenson Button for the first time in both qualifying and a race. The Brazilian, the first of the finishers behind the dominant Red Bull-Renaults, believed that no more could have been done to improve his position.
After starting second, Barrichello retained position until after the first round of pit-stops, when passed by Mark Webber, and remained in the final podium spot for the rest of the 60-lap race. "At the end of the day it was very difficult because yesterday we were thinking that third was the worse we could have," said the Brazilian on what was a weekend of damage limitation against the rapid boys in blue. "If the track didn't change a little bit, it was going to be difficult to beat them."

Once behind Webber, Barrichello was able to settle into a consistent groove, eventually finishing just under four seconds ahead of compatriot Felipe Massa. "The second stint was very, very difficult on the harder tyres," Rubens, the oldest driver in the field, admitted. "The wind was crossing the track, throwing you onto the marbles (mixture of debris and balls of rubber) - at Turn 1 I had a couple of moments."
With their rivals unbeatable in Britain, Brawn are hoping to close the gap to Red Bull during the three weeks between now and the German Grand Prix. "Unfortunately they were very, very fast but I did what I had to do," Barrichello summed up. "My target until the end of the year is really to close the gap to Jenson and I think we all did today. I also want to thank the doctors because I was in terrible back pain for the whole weekend and they've helped me big time."
