A delighted Mark Webber thanked his Red Bull team for its continued efforts and hard work to be able to claim a one-two result in its home Grand Prix on Sunday. However, the Australian - who finished second to team-mate Sebastian Vettel for the second time this year - did lament not qualifying on the front row in a bid to improve his own chances for victory.
Third on the grid translated to second in the race for Webber at Silverstone, equalling his career-best having registered his third second place after China and Turkey. With his final qualifying lap compromised by the slower Ferrari of Kimi Räikkönen on Saturday, however, 32-year-old Mark could not help but wonder what might have been. "We needed to get on the front row at least," he said of his chances for the race win. "For the first stint today, I was just sitting behind Barrichello and it's so hard to pass here."

Once past the Brawn during the first round of pit-stops, Vettel had already stretched out a 20-second lead over his team-mate. "There was absolutely no chance to bridge that gap," admitted Webber, who suffered from a minor gearbox problem in the closing stages. "We had a lot of traffic in the second stint, it was just a question of getting the car home.
"The attention this team is giving to detail is an absolute credit to them. A one-two on their home turf, the factory down the road - congratualtions to Sebastian, he had a great first stint." As well as thanking his team, the runner-up also expressed his love of Silverstone: "This certainly destroys a lot of other venues and the British fans have been fantastic."
