Bernie Ecclestone has promised that Formula One will not break up over the ongoing argument between teams and the governing body. With the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) still yet to find an agreement with Max Mosley's FIA with regards to the budget cap row, commercial rights holder Ecclestone has vowed to ensure the safe future of the sport.
As FOTA announced a breakaway series away from Formula One last Friday and the FIA having delayed announcement of the 2010 entry list as a result, one more meeting will be taking place between the two parties on Wednesday. Ecclestone, however, is not prepared to see F1 go down in flames as a result of the wrangle.
"I have given 35 years of my life and more to Formula One," said the head of Formula One Management (FOM) when talking with The Times. "My marriage broke up because of Formula One, so I am sure as hell not going to let things disintegrate over what is, in the end, basically nothing." He did admit, however, that the task of satisfying all involved would be a difficult one. "If you analyse the problems, there aren't any that can't be easily solved," Ecclestone summed up.
