Mallya optimistic after recent form

22 June 2009

Force India team boss Vijay Mallya was delighted to see driver Giancarlo Fisichella finish Sunday's British Grand Prix in tenth position. Mallya is impressed with the progress his squad has made since the start of the season and is very hopeful for the next few races.

Even though the Silverstone-based team remains yet to score its first point of the season and indeed in its two-season history, Force India continues to get closer to achieving the goal. Giancarlo Fisichella's tenth place at Silverstone was, in fact, not his best of the season, as he crossed the finish line ninth in Monte-Carlo.

Team owner Mallya is excited about the VJM02's recent performances. Speaking after Sunday's British Grand Prix he said: "It was a very impressive race performance today from Force India. We had our fair share of bad luck in qualifying yesterday with Adrian's shunt, which unfortunately ruined Fisi's lap as well. Who knows, if we had started further up the grid as we had hoped, maybe points would have been in reach today.

"Nevertheless, I am very happy that both cars finished. Reliability is good, we're competitive and keeping pace with all the others and we beat some top teams as well. Obviously I am delighted that we are getting there, slowly but steadily. I'm very hopeful for the next few races."
