After being comprehensively beaten by Red Bull Racing in the cool conditions at Silverstone on Sunday, Brawn and Jenson Button are hoping for higher temperatures as the championship moves to Germany in just over three weeks' time. Leader of the championship by twenty-three points, Button cannot be overhauled until mid-August at the earliest but is not prepared to allow complacency to take a place in the team.

Having won six of the first eight races of the season, England's Button boasts the fact of having taken victory in 75% of the Grands Prix so far and the most wins in the first half of a year since Michael Schumacher in 2004. With almost half of the season now complete, the Red Bull team triumphed magnificently in the cooler temperautres of Britain, ending Button's four-race winning streak in the process. Despite the healthy lead, though, Jenson is remaining cautious. "Rubens (Barrichello) is driving the same car as me, so I can try and keep him in check," said the championship leader, of Frome in Somerset. "Vettel is the one where you don't really know where their performance is going to be, so it is important for us to be fighting for wins."
With the rapid Red Bull's Silverstone updates working perfectly, Brawn know that aiming for podium finishes will not be enough when fighting for the title. "We cannot settle for third or fourth place," Button continued. "I need to be fighting for wins, and they (Red Bull) are the challengers."
Ironically, with the Red Bull seemingly performing better in cool temperatures and the Brawn in warmer climates, the championship may come down to the decisions of mother nature as opposed to those of Ross Brawn or Adrian Newey. "They were much quicker than us and it is because it is absolutely freezing this weekend!" Button said after the race at Silverstone. "The sun did not come out until after the race, which is nice...thanks British weather!"
