Reigning British Formula 3 Champion Jaime Alguersuari has stepped into the role of Red Bull F1 test and reserve driver for the remainder of the season. Acting as the third driver for both the Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso teams, the Spaniard replaces New Zealander Brendon Hartley.

With Red Bull F1 sharing its third driver between its two teams, Alguersuari - who raced to five wins on his way to the BF3 title last year - attended the Spanish Grand Prix this season as a guest of the teams. Currently competing in the World Series by Renault, the 19-year-old from Barcelona performed a straight-line test for Red Bull last year as well as taking part in a street demonstration for Toro Rosso at Portugal's Algarve circuit.
With in-season testing banned in 2009, Jaime - a member of Red Bull's Young Driver Development programme - will be attending technical briefings with race drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel for the rest of the season as well as listening in to radio conversations between the duo and the pit wall. Predecessor Hartley, meanwhile, will continue racing in European Formula 3 races.
