Dallara ready for Campos mission

03 July 2009

Car builders Dallara are looking forward to making a return to Formula One with the Campos team next year. As the Spanish outfit, currently in GP2, makes the jump up the motorsport ladder, Italian concern Dallara will be constructing the team's two first F1 cars.

With little under nine months to go until the start of the 2010 championship, there are still almost three quarters of a year remaining until the first race although designing of next season's cars is already well underway.

"I've accepted this opportunity enthusiastically," Gian Paolo Dallara, the man behind the Parma-located company, told Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport. "It's scary but it's exciting for me and for my entire company because this is a fascinating challenge which tests your energy and creativity.

"We want to have the car running around 10 January - let's hope it's quick, for the sake of Campos and us!" Having been a team in its own right between 1988 and 1992, the Dallara of 2009 is a larger operation. "We have strong people with fresh experiences," Gian Paolo continued. "Such as Gabriele Tredozi, who for years was the technical head at Minardi, and Ben Agathangelou, aerodynamicist for Red Bull and Ross Brawn's Honda."
