Lewis Hamilton will be making his first return to the Nürburgring next weekend since the European Grand Prix of 2007. Having narrowly missed out on points by less than two seconds two years ago, the World Champion knows that making amends will be a difficult job this time around.
With the 2007 race having seen the end of Hamilton's superb run of nine consecutive podiums since the start of his Formula One career that year, his recent run of poor form promises another difficult afternoon. "I remember I had a tough afternoon battling through from the back of the field to finish just outside the points," said the McLaren driver, who was one of seven cars to have lost control in a Turn 1 downpour.

"It's a fantastic circuit, a little older than a lot of the current tracks we currently visit and with quite a different feel to what we're used to. It's fast and flowing with some good spots for overtaking." A fan of the atmosphere and fans at the track, Lewis' variable memories also include a hard impact during a qualifying crash.
With no points scored in the last four races, McLaren will be putting on a brave face at Mercedes' home Grand Prix. "While we aren't expecting any major upgrades for this weekend, I'm still looking forward to the race," Hamilton continued. "It's an honour to be part of the Silver Arrows and, while our results haven't recently shown it, we're still pushing incredibly hard and are all hopeful of moving closer to the front before the end of this difficult season."
