03 July 2009

There will be a number of new developments for crowds to enjoy at the Nürburgring this year as the circuit hosts the German Grand Prix for the first time since 1985. The area now features a brand-new motorsport experience park, featuring a spectacular rollercoaster amongst other new sights.

With the European Grand Prix last hosted at the venue two years ago, fans returning to the track this year will be able to make the most of the 'Ring Arena' which features restaurants, a casino and 'Ring Racer', the world's fastest accelerating rollercoaster. With the much-awaited attraction now completed, the circuit becomes the second on the calendar to boast such a ride, with Suzuka being the other.

"Following its establishment in 1927 and the building and opening of the Grand Prix circuit in 1984, 2009 marks the third historical step," said Walter Kafitz, managing director of the circuit, who noted that a boost of 500,000 visitors is expected at the new complex to take the total to an estimated 2.5 million for the year.
