Nico Rosberg explained that building up tyre temperatures in conditions such as those seen at the Nürburgring on Friday was a challenge in two sessions where the Williams team changed its approach to practice, as Kazuki Nakajima drove a Formula One car at the German track for the first time.
With Rosberg having been one of seven cars to be caught out by a sudden rainstorm in the early stages of the 2007 race at the Eifel mountain-based venue, the 24-year-old suffered from rain again in his home country on Friday. "There is not too much to report today aside from the issue we have had with tyre warm-up which could continue until the weather improves," Nico explained.

"The forecast seems to suggest that the temperatures will increase. The wind today also made it difficult to find an absolute direction, so with positive conditions we know we have quite a lot of possible improvements; we have also changed the way in we approach Friday practice, so we do not expect to be top of the timesheets. On the long run side, however, we did make some very clear progress for the race."
"The weather made it a bit of an odd day today," added Nakajima, who visited an even colder Norway on holiday during the three-week break between races. "We are expecting conditions to be a bit better tomorrow, hopefully a little more consistent, so I think we need to be a bit patient and wait to see how it looks. Of course it is my first time here in an F1 car and while I didn't find the track especially easy, it certainly was interesting and enjoyable."
