Adrian Sutil had every reason to be happy after clinching an impressive seventh place on the grid ahead of his home Grand Prix. After strong performances from the Force India team all weekend at the Nürburgring, the 26-year-old starts on the fourth row of the starting grid, behind only the Red Bull, Brawn and McLaren teams.

With qualifying on Saturday a total gamble in many ways, due to the inclement weather conditions at the Nürburgring, team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella fell foul and will start the race from only 18th, 11 places behind Sutil who lines up right ahead of the two Ferraris. "I'm really happy, for sure one of F1's happiest guys today," a very smiley Adrian said after the session. "It's my home race and my best qualifying position so far in F1, so it was a great qualifying for us.

"It was very tricky with the weather but our decisions were very good and on time, particularly in Q2 with the rain. We took a risk on the dry tyres and we did it a lap earlier than all the others and got the third fastest time. Finally, even with the fuel onboard, Q3 went really well and we got into seventh - I am very happy for everyone in the team; we've worked really hard in the last months, now we just have to score some points!"
