Senna hoping for right place, right time
21 July 2009Bruno Senna is focusing on Formula One again after a stalled attempt to enter with the Brawn team this year. With three new teams joining the grid in 2010 plus possible vacancies with current competitors, the Brazilian is positive that a year of mixed experiences in 2009 will do no harm for his F1 prospects.

With an expectant Senna left immensely disappointed to see Rubens Barrichello selected as team-mate to Jenson Button for this season - quashing his own chances of emulating his late, great uncle Ayrton and entering Formula One - 25-year-old Bruno is competing in the Le Mans Series in 2009 although the spotlight is now being shone upon next year. However, with Sébastien Bourdais having been offloaded by Toro Rosso and replaced with Jaime Alguersuari, was Senna linked with taking the drive?
"No. I think it's a bit too late now for moving to F1 in 2009," he told GPWeek. "It would do more harm than good to jump in with no testing. It's better to wait and do things properly for next year; I'm waiting for the mess in Formula One to resolve itself so that I can manage to have some productive chats with people."

With only a single rookie in F1 this year, a number of reshuffles for drivers are already being discussed for 2010 with six potential empty seats available in the new Campos, Manor and USF1 teams. "We're speaking with quite a few of the teams, with relationships we made last year," Senna continued. "We have some really good contacts. Also within the new teams we have some good contacts. It's just ticking along right now.
"We're waiting for the political side of Formula One to resolve itself a little bit because it's quite messy. But, you know, it's just a question of being in the right place at the right time. We're trying to give ourselves the best chance we can get and trying to focus on the right opportunities this time."
