Lewis Hamilton has said it will be an honour and a privilege to race against seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher. The current F1 title holder clinched his first victory of the season in Hungary last weekend although the European Grand Prix will mark the first time the duo have competed against each other.

With Schumacher having departed F1 at the end of 2006 and Hamilton making his debut the following season, F1 fans missed out on the chance to see the pairing lock horns on the track although all is set to change on the penultimate weekend of August. The British driver has never made a secret of the fact that he is a big fan of Schumacher and would love to race against the German. "He is one of the sport's greatest competitors, a legend - it'd be great to compete against him," said the McLaren driver. "The whole world will be watching his return to the cockpit in Valencia.

"It will not only be fascinating to see how he readies himself for his Grand Prix comeback but also an honour and a privilege to race against him for the very first time. I wish him well." Schumacher will remain in the Ferrari team for the rest of the 2009 season unless the recovering Felipe Massa becomes fit enough to race.
