Felipe Massa will be dispatched from a Budapest hospital on Monday, just nine days after his frightening accident during the qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix. On leaving Budapest, the 28-year-old will fly home to Brazil by private jet.
With worries for Massa's life having circulated following his accident in which an 800 gram (1.7 pound) steel spring struck his helmet, the Brazilian's recovery so far has been a rapid one; Felipe suffered a fractured skull on being hit by the flying object which broke from compatriot Rubens Barrichello's car and doctors had feared for the loss of sight in his left eye.

"Felipe continues to improve, he is doing very well, and we have already decided to go back home on Monday to Brazil," Dino Altmann, the personal trainer of Massa, explained to the press at the ÁEK hospital on Friday. "He will fly to Sao Paulo." This confirms that treatment will not continue in Paris, which had been a possibility. "He has to continue his recovery and get back racing as soon as possible, that's the plan - no special treatment," Altmann added.
"He is in a very good mood and is in good shape - He wants to come back soon." In the meantime, team-mate Kimi Räikkönen is being joined at Ferrari by his own predecessor, Michael Schumacher.
