Former Formula 1 team boss David Richards was not amused to see his F1 entry being denied. His Formula 1 entry with Prodrive was not welcomed into Formula 1. Instead the FIA welcomed three new teams into the sport. According to Richards they were the chosen ones as they decided to race with Cosworth engines next season.
Richards' Prodrive wished to enter Formula 1 next season with a McLaren customer chassis and engine instead of building its own chassis and a Cosworth engine. According to Richards the main reason he was rejected was because he did not want to run a Cosworth engine. "I was told I needed a Cosworth engine if I wanted to enter Formula 1. However I have an agreement with McLaren and I do not expect the Cosworth engine to be competitive. Apart from that we're simply not ready for an engine switch," Richards told Motorsport-magazine.com.
Even though Richards might miss out on entering the sport in 2010 he is hopeful for the year after. "It is very unlikely that we'll be able to enter Formula 1 next season but 2011 is still an option. I expected many changes to come in Formula 1."
