Ecclestone expecting Schumacher podium

Ecclestone expecting Schumacher podium

04 August 2009

Bernie Ecclestone is extremely pleased to see Michael Schumacher return to Formula One as a Ferrari driver. Ecclestone never made a secret out of it he is a big fan of the successful German. Ecclestone expects Schumacher to finish on the podium or even win the race in Valencia in about two weeks from now.

"This is great news," Ecclestone told German newspaper Bild about Schumacher's comeback. "It's great to see Michael (Schumacher) behind the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car again. I often asked him to think about a comeback so I'm really happy with this news.

"He will have to take some medical tests but he was always the fittest driver on the grid so I am sure the test will not be a problem."

And with a seven-time world champion back in the Ferrari F1 car the expectations are high from the start. "Michael is always very fast. If he races he is fast. He wouldn't consider a comeback if he wouldn't be fast. I am quite sure we will see him on the podium or even win the race," Ecclestone predicts.
