Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has said the Canadian Grand Prix is likely to return to Montreal as of next season. The Englishman, whose Formula One Management (FOM) company is commercial rights holder for the sport, is about to sign a contract with new race promotors so the country can host the race up to and including 2016.
"Within the next few weeks everything should be clear," Ecclestone told Radio Canada. "We came to a financial agreement and, in principal, that means we will have a Canadian Grand Prix on the Formula One calendar for the next seven years."
Ecclestone has indeed indicated that a contract has already been signed with the new promotors for the Grand Prix at the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve. "We have an agreement with the right people to avoid the yoyo games we've had in recent years," he confirmed.
